Security, cameras and network systems designed for growing schools

Bring your cameras, access control and WiFi into one system that’s easier to manage, more reliable, and built to scale as your school grows.

Growing schools outgrow their systems faster than expected

As campuses expand, cameras, access control and WiFi often become fragmented and harder to manage. We help bring everything into one system.

A unified approach

One system for your school’s security, cameras and network

Instead of managing separate systems for cameras, network and access control, everything is brought into one platform. Your cameras, doors and WiFi work together, managed from a single dashboard, with one system that scales as your school grows.

Network

Reliable WiFi and switching across your entire campus, designed to support multiple buildings and growing demand without constant rework.

Cameras

Clear, easy-to-access footage across your school, with simple management and the ability to expand coverage as your campus grows.

Doors & Gates

Control access to your campus with integrated gates and door systems that work seamlessly with your cameras and network.

Outcomes

What this means for your school

A safer campus, fewer issues to manage, and systems that support your growth.

Safer campus

Clear visibility across your buildings and grounds, with reliable coverage where it matters most.

Easier management

One system, one interface, and a single point of contact instead of juggling multiple vendors.

Reliable systems

WiFi that holds up, cameras that record consistently, and access control that works when you need it.

Built to grow

Expand your campus, add new buildings or gates, and extend coverage without replacing your core system.

Scenarios

Where this approach works best

Whether you’re expanding, upgrading, or replacing outdated systems, this is where a unified approach makes the biggest difference.

New buildings and campus expansion

Add classrooms, facilities or new buildings without creating more fragmented systems. Extend your network, cameras and access seamlessly as you grow.

Gate and door access upgrades

Move from manual locks or disconnected systems to access control that works alongside your cameras and network.

Legacy CCTV replacement

Upgrade from unreliable or hard-to-use camera systems to something simple, consistent and built for how your school operates today.

Case Study
Private School
Inner West Melbourne

A private school in Melbourne’s inner west needed to improve campus security and replace an ageing Dahua CCTV system that was difficult to manage and didn’t cover newer areas of the school. The brief from the school was clear: replace legacy systems to improve usability and prepare the campus for projected expansion. Cameras, network infrastructure, and access were either fragmented or missing entirely, and there was no unified way to monitor or manage the campus.

The school already had a UniFi gateway in place, which provided a strong foundation to build on. MacroState designed a staged approach to standardise the entire system. We deployed a UniFi Enterprise NVR, a 16-bay recording server sized to support the school’s growth over the next decade, and installed 30 new cameras across the campus, covering both internal and external areas. Existing Dahua IP cameras were integrated into the system to minimise upfront cost, with a plan to phase them out over time.

We expanded the network with additional switching and delivered all required data cabling and electrical work. With no existing access control in place, we implemented a UniFi Access system across the administration building and car park, including four doors and two vehicle gates with video intercoms and staff swipe access.

MacroState also assisted the school in deploying an on-premises card printing setup, allowing them to issue custom staff and student ID cards with built-in NFC for access control.

As a final step, we replaced the school’s ageing network switches with UniFi switches capable of powering cameras, door access, and wireless access points. This provided a fully integrated, centrally managed, licence-free network.

The result is a unified system where cameras, network, and access control are managed from a single platform. The school now has full visibility across the campus, simpler day-to-day operations, and infrastructure that can scale as the campus continues to grow.

Timeline

From first conversation to a fully integrated campus

We keep the process structured and predictable. Your school stays operational while we handle design, installation, and coordination end to end.

Week one: assess your campus

We review your existing systems, map coverage, and identify gaps in security, network, and access.

Week two: design the system

A unified plan tailored to your layout, budget, and expansion roadmap, with clear scope and staging.

Weeks three to four: install and integrate

Cameras, network, and access control are deployed together. Existing infrastructure is integrated where possible to reduce cost and disruption.

Post-installation training & support

Your team is trained on how to use and manage the system, while we monitor performance for the first three months to ensure everything is operating as intended. Ongoing monitoring and support beyond this period is available as an optional service.

Deliverables

What’s included at handover

You don’t just get new infrastructure. You get a system your team understands, can manage, and can rely on day to day without external support.

Common questions

Answers to practical questions about cost, installation, and how the system works for growing schools.

How much does a system like this cost?

Costs vary depending on campus size, number of cameras, access points, and cabling requirements. We provide a clear, itemised scope so you can see exactly where your budget is going.

Will installation disrupt operations?

Work is staged to minimise disruption, with critical works scheduled outside of school hours where required. Most schools remain fully operational during installation.

Can we upgrade gradually?

Systems can be rolled out in stages. Where possible, existing infrastructure is integrated to reduce upfront cost, with a clear path to upgrade over time.

How easy is the system to manage?

Everything is managed through a single interface. Staff are trained during handover, and day-to-day tasks like reviewing footage or managing access are straightforward.

What happens if something breaks?

You have a single point of contact. We diagnose and resolve issues across the entire system, rather than directing you to multiple vendors.

Are there any ongoing licence fees?

No. The system is licence-free, so there are no ongoing per-camera or per-user fees. Optional support and monitoring services are available if required.
